Team USA Dance Tryouts

The USA Federation for Sport Cheerleading would like to announce the selection of the National dance team to represent the United States of America in the 2013 International Cheer Union World Championship April 26, 2013.  

Do you think your team has what it takes to be the next “Dream Team"? If so, then USA Cheer would like to invite your team to try out for the opportunity to represent your country in the ICU World Championship!

Application Requirements for Dance

• All team members must be at least 18 years of age by January 1, 2013.
• Online applications must be posted by January 28, 2013. 

Team USA Dance Requirements

• All team applicants must be willing to have additional practices from January-April  2013. For specific information on practices, please contact Dani Rein Eustice.
• Teams must be able to travel to Orlando on or around April 23-27, 2013.  
• Selected team will be responsible for raising a portion of funds to go toward travel and competition expenses. Amounts will vary depending on number of teams chosen and number of categories team are selected for. For specific expenses, contact Dani Rein Eustice.

At the discretion of USA Cheer, teams may be asked to adjust or alter routines for the ICU Championship. Teams must be willing and able to comply with requests for adjustments.

The coaching staff of the chosen team will remain coaches for Team USA and will collaborate with Director of Dance for USA Cheer for all related decisions. All final decisions are at the discretion of the Director of Dance for USA Cheer and/or the Director of USA Cheer.

• Phase I: Teams must submit their video audition no later than January 28, 2013.
• Phase II: Teams will be evaluated by the USA Cheer Selection Committee in January.
• Phase III: The team or teams chosen to represent the US will be announced on February 5, 2013.        

Team selection is based on the group that will best represent the US in one, two or three of the  categories available at the ICU Championship.  (Team chosen will not be required to compete in all 3 categories at the ICU Championship)

A panel of judges from different areas of the country with diverse dance backgrounds will form the Team USA Dance selection committee. 

The committee will select a team based on the following:

• Scoring of submitted routines using the official ICU score sheets
• Team’s ability to represent the United States
• Team’s willingness to prepare for the ICU Championship with the guidance of the Director of Dance for USA Cheer

Selection of Team USA is a direct result of tryout applications and is not affiliated with results from any other championships or events.

• Completed Team USA Dance application with team roster 
• A $50.00 per team application processing fee.  Checks should be made payable to USA Federation for Sport Cheering. 
• DVD/Video audition

• Teams may consist of a minimum of 12 dancers to a maximum of 24.
• All dancers participating in the video submission must be official team members, however not all members listed on the roster must be shown on the video. 
• Males and females are allowed to participate on the team. 
• Teams will submit a routine or routines of their strongest style or styles.  (selected styles are Jazz, Hip Hop, Pom) 
• Teams can submit 1, 2 or 3 routines. 
  Example: Teams excelling in jazz and pom should submit both a jazz and pom routine.  
• Routines must be done to music and be a minimum of 1:50 seconds in length.  

Note: It is recommended that teams submit their strongest style or styles of dance. The team or teams chosen to represent the US will be announced on the USA Cheer website (www.usacheer.net) by February 5, 2013.
